Welcome to our page!
Our organisation and website aim to:
Raise awareness globally around the tragedies of colonisation (or colonization) and the ongoing impacts, if not perpetuation, of unjust colonial systems.
Be a starting point for meaningful and impactful discussion to create meaningful and impactful change and bring our topics to mainstream thought
Be a catalyst for social justice
Create an accessible information collection and try make complex concepts more mainstream
Uplift and recognise ethnic cultures and their wisdom, much of which has been stolen, commercialised and appropriated for selfish gain.
Reclaim power, identities and culture of people of colour
To question and deconstruct accepted systems and open dialogues to new ways of doing things
This page was inspired by the "De-colonisation" movements in South Africa and other African countries. The site is currently skewed towards the "decolonisation material" as there is a dire shortage of mainstream awareness, discussion, research, real metrics and deep understanding around this. In time, as the world and society evolves and once we have a better understanding of these issues, we hope to grow the "empowerment material" even more.
Thanks for being here and use this resource as often as needed.
The website is organised under a number of disciplines which feature curated content based on (non-professional) volunteers. The website was launched in January 2022 and is 'work-in-progress" with a view of long term development.
It must be noted that one of the many outcomes of colonisation was creation of an unequal and instiutionally racist society. Some of the articles touch on matters of racism but the aim is not to alienate. It would be in the interests of the world if we all explored our conditioning and exploitative social constructs. For example, the "anti-climate change" movement is a massive exercise in decolonisation too.
